A key piece in a warehouse’s operations is its physical labour force. Lumpers, also sometimes referred to as “swampers”, are the backbone of any productive warehouse or facility, helping to reduce driver fatigue and injury risks for the carriers, reducing loading time and improving relations with customers for the shippers, increasing the speed at which inbound freight can be received, and allowing drivers to quickly go from one appointment to the next without delay. Third-party lumping services have been used by numerous large-scale carriers to increase productivity in almost every department.
WHAT EXACTLY IS A LUMPER?
A lumper is a physical labourer specialized in working in a warehouse or logistical environment. Lumpers are responsible for:WHY CHOOSE US?

WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS?

Hourly Rate
The simplest and most commonly used option, hourly rates can be beneficial for companies looking for a standardized invoice.

Rate by Piece
Piece count rates are generated for every piece a lumper touches. This option usually helps to encourage stronger productivity in staff, since they can earn in 7 hours as much as they would for an 8-hour shift, if they work hard and finish early!

Rate by Pallet
Our staff can also load or unload your trailers for you! Doing so can speed up work in general, bring a better understanding of the load that an employee is working on, and leave more time for your staff to complete any other duty they may have.

Rate by Trailer
And finally, we offer a flat rate per trailer or half-trailer for days or sites with a smaller inbound volume. These rates vary depending on the load’s size.
